NE. barn find 68 GT500
« on: March 28, 2014, 09:46:41 AM »
This 68 GT500 #03800 was found in a barn about 90 miles from me. Looks like it had a hard life! A friend of mine has been asked the restore it.

I thought a felony hole was usually through the floor-pan ;)

Hope some TLC is on the way soon...

Get out the police line yellow tape... A crime has been reported here! Geeze! who'd have driven that in the winter. Looks to be a real project!

Wow, hard life for sure!  :o

Should be a KR with that late serial number.

Good to see it will come back to life.

Does it have the tan interior?

If you look closely on the LF fender, you'll see the "428 Cobra Jet" emblem.

I've always hoped to find a Shelby in ANY condition.

Oh yea, I see that now.  Missed it in the wavy bodywork.  ;)

Any history on the car?

Always interesting to hear the story behind the find.

Some cars are better left in the barn. Actually doesnt look too rusty but serious panel replacement. Front fenders are replaced. Not original color

Bob Perkins has a 69 RS NOS factory Q'panel for sale on Ebay, not cheap.....$3,650.....

Still, the Shelby in photo above is still worth fixing.

In addition, I could see if the unibody/framerails were toast, I'd think twice about it. JMO
