This is a picture of the OE 65 Disc Brake wheel from my May/65 GT.  I think the contours between the lips are what should be compared to a known Drum Brake car ?  The brake assembly would be on the right.  Brian

Can you post a picture of the front and back of your wheel as well?

I have a drum brake wheel that I can take pictures of also.

Although not related directly to this subject the evolution of the brake calipers was all cast iron on steel wheel cars and deluxe wheel cars got a caliper that was painted silver or plated silver on the outside facing half. It evolved to all of the calipers being cast on the back half and silver on the front half for simplicity. I only mention this because I wonder if there were two separate steel wheels one of disc and one for drum. Ford maybe decided to make the wheel universal for simplicity sake. If i were to guess I would guess it would be around the same time in 65 that the calipers appeared to change. That is if there is some type of correlation . Just a thought .

Maybe someone can compare dimensions to a '65 styled steel wheel?  I've never had a problem with those fitting disc brake cars.

Here are a few pictures of a original wheel off a 65 SJ conv.
Measures 14x5 and the car had drum brakes.

They look like the same wheel.  My example is date stamped 5MD, also stamped with AC, has the small hole and came with dual red line tires.  Brian

They do look the same, mine has a HM4 stamp, usually they are stamped
with the year first like 4MH, have seen wheels stamped both ways.
