NOS door sill question
« on: January 29, 2014, 06:37:39 PM »
Just picked up a set of NOS sill mouldings for my 68 fastback, they were in ford boxes, and most of the other NOS stuff I got had shipping labels dated from the mid 1970's to the early 1980's. I have a couple questions about the mouldings,

1) These are almost mirror polished. Was that the finish on the assembly line parts, or were the service parts finished brighter ?

2) There is a hole (about 3/16) in the top of each sill, under the "Ford" label, you can see evidence of the hole on the surface of the label when it was pressed on the sill. Is this normal on the production parts ? ( I'd hate to replace the original ford label with a repro unless I had to)

Thank's in advance,  John

Most service pieces are much brighter than the low luster assemblyline piece
Although there is a hole there it usually doesnt telegragh through the emblem.

Does your service replacement sill plate, have the large Blue Ford Oval? I know that the factory ones did. The reproduction emblems for the sill plates have the smaller sized Blue Ford ovals.
