Last night I finished up on re-installing the cowling top, spot welding and then dressing the welds. Light coat of filler for the imperfections and a coat of primer. I've attached before and after photos. During the process I use Mastercoat Metal Prep to prep the metal against rust and corrosion, then two coats of Mastercoat Permanent Rust sealer (silver). I then applied Eastwood Brushable Seam Sealer to each of the top hats inside and out. After sanding, I applied two coats of Sauterne Gold to the lower cowling and the inside top cowling received several coats of Red Oxide. After the halves dried I applied weld thru primer where required and started spot welding the top to the bottom. I then dressed the welds, smooth them out and applied Evercoat Metal -2-Metal filler. This is a metal reinforced body filler. Sanded the edges down and the applied a coat of primer to the entire cowling. Awaiting final sanding, primer and paint.
