I cleaned mine with a glass bead shot and now have acid dipped them. When they came out they look like stainless steel. Were they original stainless steel or steel with plate? Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

If they look like stainless steel, probably replacements.  The originals would have been plain steel, possibly dipped in black paint.

The heat shield plates look like these and I dipped them (that shield the engine mounts). I'll look at them again tomorrow, does not matter as I'll use them. Now that you said that, I remember when I removed them the locks were never engaged. I'd imagine they replaced them when the engine was replaced (Fred Jones reman). O well, guess I'll be painting them black, Thanks.
