Suggestions on how to clean trunk mat
« on: January 06, 2014, 01:21:46 AM »
Have what appears to be the original burtex spatter mat in my GTCS.  It is a bit faded and a tad grubby, a few significant wear spots under the spare...but thinking about trying to clean it up a bit.

Not sure what to use and what may do more harm than good... any suggestions?

Hand cleaner. The ones with grit are not going to be as gentle but work better in stubborn areas. Rub it on and wipe off with a white rag to see if you getting anywhere. It is more gentle then most cleaners. Sometimes works well but it depends on how bad the stains and fading are. Just my experience.

Thanks, tried a few small test spots today and the results are promising.  Looks like it will be a long process, light wash with rag/warm water, then the cleaner, then a rinse with another rag/warm water.... a weekend effort to add to the list...

If you have a auto parts store near you that sells POR products, try their Marine Clean.
