Engine and Crank Markings - 65 6 Cylinder
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:48:16 PM »
I found these Markings on my '65 Inline 6 Block and wondered if anyone knows what they signify. The 5 1 1 Marking appears twice on the Block and once on the Crankshaft.

Thanks

Looks like a job number for a rebuilder. Guessing that the engine did not have a standard bore or standard crank

The Engine had been bored out 40 over and the Crank, (original Ford), had the Main and Rod Journals milled down 10 thousands, so definitely rebuilt sometime in its history. No matter...thought I'd ask in case there may have been some factory significance to the marks.

Thanks

Think that some of those stampings (not that familiar with 6 cyls :(  are factory but can't tell the new ones from the old. Likely one of those other stampings would be the date the block was machined if they followed the same pattern as the V8's and put them on the oil pan face
