Have a pair of reproduced cardboard rear trunk liners that cover the tail light assemblies when the trunk is open.  They arrived in a charcoal color.  Does anyone have any input concerning the correct color for these pieces of cardboard?  Seems I have seen them in some cars that were more of a grey/blue hue as opposed to these black/charcoal colored ones.  The originals are long gone.  Also they should be curved but the replacements are flat - any tips on bending the reproduction part and not putting a kink in the cardboard?  Thanks

They should be a blue grey color. I have some originals in our GT 350 if you want a picture. I dampened them and made a form to hold them till dry then painted them. Marty

Yes , you can get some of the ones from "dead nuts on " who makes them in the correct original color and made of the correct pliable material that is meant to bend but not crease when rolled. Other wise you will have to moisten them and carefully secured them with out creasing to a curved form until they dry at which time you can paint them with the semigloss blue gray paint.

Talked with Jack Brooks at Dead Nuts On about the cardboard for a 68.  He is not yet producing this product, although he does have them for a 69.  He is not sure when he will have a product in hand, since the needed original cardboard liners are not in his possession.  So -- back to the drawing board with the reproductions until something better is available.  Does anyone have a source for the correct blue/grey color that these items were originally?  A rattle can paint would be fine for this is anyone has a suggestion.

I provided Jack templates of my originals along with photos, but there are apparently still some remaining questions.  He is the right guy to make them, but sounds like he would like to have some originals in his hands to copy.  If anyone has some originals that they are willing to loan Jack, that might speed things up.

I worked with Jack to get the 69 versions made and we are working on the 68s. I would say they are "imminent" but with the holidays I wouldnt be surprised if they arent here till Jan (first set will come to me) If you cant wait for the color use 60's VW Baltic Blue.
