1969 Trunk Drains - are they repop'd?
« on: September 11, 2013, 11:38:15 AM »
I just replaced the drivers trunk floor on my 69 Grande, and am now welding and cutting the correct holes after using the 65/66 trunk drop panel.  I was looking at the passenger side and there was part of the drain still in the hole, until I touched it and it fell out.  I havent noticed these before as my other 69's were california cars with zero rust...never had to spend time in that area.  Are they repop'd or does anyone know where I could source 2 of them in good used condition?

Thanks!

The drain valves are available reproduction and they are fairly close to the originals and should be available from any mustang vendor. Trying to find good used ones will be tough as they dry rot. The other issue you will have is before you install the valve you will need to drill 2 holes, 1 for the drain itself and the other to mount the valve which is a square hole. I used a drill and squared it up with a file. You can use the other side of your car as a template if it's still intact. Another thing to keep in mind is the holes for the back up light harness are not always in the correct place and may need to be relocated as I think the earlier cars had the hole cut in a different location then the 69 and again you can verify this comparing to the other side or your remove part.

The repos are pretty generic. The text is nothing like original. Dearborn/NJ uses different covers than SJ
