firewall pad question
« on: October 08, 2013, 12:30:11 PM »
i need to replace the original firewall pad for my 68 a/c car.  i dont want to use a repro.  i have an original 68 non a/c pad available locally.  can this one be easily  modified by removing material for the heater box.  or would it require more mods.  is the 67 a/c firewall pd the same as a 68 a/c pad. thanks much for any info

I would go an look at the pad. I thought that they were perforated so that they could be used with or without A/C.

+1 one pad fit all . Heater delete ,heater only and A/C. Areas perforated to take out depending on application.

Mustangs from in front of the seat risers forward are the same under the skin as a Cougar. They share all of the same parts, except for anything 6 cylinder related. Coupe windshields are the same as coupe Cougars too.

The wiring, instrumentation, and dash parts and pads are different.

If you go for an original replacement be aware that the style (texture) differed depending on where the car was built on 65-68's in most cases ;)

Either the ones with the raised dots in a pattern or the heavy texture (no pattern) that looks like undercoating

or the one with texture and dots behind it  ;D
