I believe 289/302 and 390/428 did. I don't know about 6cyl.

6-cyl has smog if 3-spd manual.

+1

In 68 all Mustang engines delivered to US states - Manual = Thermactor system.

Ran across an ad for "1968 mustang runs and drives down the road 48000 original miles 6 cylinder 3 speed california car" with picture below.   Thermactor plus AC.

I might be able to swing by and take more pics if someone need any.

There are some additional pics on the link below, but they will probably disappear in a few days.

I'm guessing that the owner is unaware (never checked the door tag to see if it was in fact from Calif) that Thermactors were the standard around the country ;)

Jeff, looks like I missed the point of "all" "manual" and "68".  Thanks.  For continuing education credits, and this might not be a short easy answer, but were the automatics thermactor based only for the California DSOs? John

Calif standards were the same as the other 49 states that year. So automatic cars didn't get Thermactors in Calif unless they got them in other states.

So only 390 and 428CJ Mustangs with automatics received Thermactor systems in 68 as far as automatic cars go.

Aha!  My father had a 68 LTD 390 2V that had plastic covers over the idle mixture screws on the carb.  Apparently, that was an IMCO system.  Boy, did he swear up and down that that carb was a POS (and it was, compared to the 65 3904V T-Bird we had).

I always wondered about the origin and reason for those screw covers.

They used limiting caps on Holleys with Thermactor (not in 66 and 67 at least) also
