Need help with 1966 Pony Interior duo color combo
« on: July 26, 2013, 04:35:21 PM »
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and had a quick question...
I recently saw a '66 Mustang convertible (red exterior/white top) with this red/parchment (almost white?) pony interior (see image).  The color combo with the car looked amazing!  Was this pony interior combo a factory otpion in 1966 or do you think this was custom?  I know solid red and also a maroom/parchment color duo was a factory option but I can't find the code for this color combo?  Anyone know?
Thanks

Custom - allot of this was done during the 80's

There was a Parchment and Burgundy deluxe interior  combination but its not red and white as I've seen many times over the years

Thanks Jeff.  Does a custom color combo on a 'pony interior' devalue a car from a collector standpoint or can it add value?
I'm assuming the value would remain as long as the original data plate for the interior is coded correctly (76B)?
I think the owner said the car originally had a red crinkle pony interior but I could be wrong.  Would that have been the solid red factory pony interior offered in 1966?  I get confused because some research says the pony interior was always duo-tone and then others say it came in a few solid colors too?

Depends on the potential purchaser. For some it would devalue the car since it will cost money and time to return it to original. For a purchaser not interested in original then it likely would not change the value

If its non-original then the code does not matter except for what the car could be but the wrong colored pony/deluxe interior for some you might as well have a standard interior car changed to a deluxe interior car

Deluxe interior was available in solid and two tone
