Hood Pin Nut Question...

In researching factory correct hood pins for 1969 Mustangs, it looks like there may have been more than one type of nut used for attaching the hood pins to the radiator support. Most people say their Mustang's came from the factory with a separate nut and washer. The hood pins I bought have more of a flanged nut for attaching the hood pins (see pictures below).

In another thread on this forum (http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=5305.msg29687#msg29687 ) it looks like Jeff Speegle posted some pictures of 1969 bolted on hood pin examples from NJ and it looks like the nuts used are more like the flanged ones on my hood pins.

Am I seeing things or were there more than one type of nut used for attaching hood pins? If so, which nut should be used on my April 8, 1969 Dearborn Mustang GT?

Looking at Jeff's photos it looks like seperate nut and washer and not a flange nut to me.

Sorry - lots of stuff going on - agree with Bob never seen a flange nut used there on any original application

I am adding a photo in here so we have this for reference.  This is what I consider the correct style here....showing some originals and also NOS.  The other style with the shoulders to me is clearly not correct.

FYI that thinner style nut is typically refered to as a jam nut.
