Ground wire on '65 200cid 3spd vert.
« on: June 05, 2013, 09:22:48 PM »

Subject: Ground wire on '65 200cid 3spd vert. Anyone know where the Ground wire is supposed to be?

On my '66 200 Auto vert, It's located where I would expect it would be .  One side connected to the starter hold bolt that also holds the tranny dipstick, then to the hole in the firewall next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the car,

On the '65 3spd vert, It's totally different.  One loop is bolted to a hole in the tranny tunnel on the lower Driver's side (right under the Accelerator pedal assembly on the Firewall side, and the other end loop is bolted to one of the bellhousing hold bolts.  Is this correct for a '65 3spd manual car?  I have only owned two other manual '65-'66 stangs and I can't remember if the Ground wire location was different from the C4 Automatic cars.

My '65 San Jose T-code 3-sp vert has the ground strap on the passenger's side, as you described.

Don't agree that the manual trans 6 cylinder is any different. Checked and they all look like they attach at the fire3wall same location as other 6 and v8 cars. Then at the engine - outer upper starter bolt
