Looking for an answer from Sparky
« on: May 13, 2013, 09:28:20 PM »
Sparky being an electrician.
I have a '65 SJ fastback. On the main wiring harness under the dash, there is a plug at the center of the firewall for the engine feed. At this plug, there are two wires with female leads. As shown in the 1965 mustang electrical assembly manual page 15 reference to letter F blue-red stripe and letter B black-blue stripe. I can't find reference to what these are for or what they plug into. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

I'm a good electrician, but no Sparky as that is a derogatory term...

F is the plug for the console lamp power, which will always be illuminated with the key in any position but OFF and CRANK and the door raised to complete the circuit.

B is a general purpose plug for courtesy lights, or anything that will light up when the doors are open or the headlight switch cranked all of the way open.  This particular plug is used for courtesy lights on the console.

When we were in England last time, my wife's cousin's fiance said he was a Sparky... meaning electrician.  Probably the same in other parts of the world, I'm sure the Aussies use it.... seeing as they like to have nicknames for everything!   ::)
