Topic: 67 Quarter panel ornament pad or seal

Got the 67 quarter panel ornament pads (as it NPD calls it), seals (as I call it) form NPD.  They seem to be too big and sloppy and too thick.  Pushing on the ornament very hard from the outside I still can't compress it enough for the ornament to be flush with the body and parts of it stick out due to being too big.  I don't want to risk trying to compress it by cranking down on the mounting nuts and stripping them.

I'm guessing that I'm going to need to spend a bunch of time trimming and cutting and gluing to make this $3.25 part fit right, the way that it should have been made.

Are there any good alternatives?  Sealers, make my own, or?
