65 fold down seat color
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:00:08 PM »
I'm in the process of preparing for paint the fold down seat panels for a May 65 SJ trim code F6 (white w/black accents) fastback.  I bought the car as a shell with not much of an interior, so I am having to piece most everything together and don't have the original parts from the car to refer to...

The panels I purchased came out of a blue interior car.  What color (black or white) is correct for the visible surfaces of the panels?

Also wondering about the following:
1.  correct finish of trap door hinges
2.  correct finish of trap door prop assembly
3.  correct finish on trunk side of trap door (assuming it matches the interior color and not the body color found in the trunk)

Thanks in advance for any and all guidance.

The fold-down would be painted white in your case.

Trap door and hinges would also be white.

Trap door prop was zinc plated.

The whole trap door would be painted white, front and back.

Here are a couple of pictures to support Charles descriptions to help  (for the record, since there are some differences in other thongs were are not discussion here, this is a San Jose car)

Think the prop might have been cad originally but most of us can't get it done any more in cad and zinc is a decent substitute
