64.5 289 4V Reg Fuel Decal

Just reading through Bob Mannel's book, on page 4-35 under 4C33 at the top of the page, the last sentence relating to the air cleaner decal says "no 289 CUBIC INCHES 4V REGULAR FUEL decals have been discovered and none are believed to have existed"

Does this mean that all the 64 V8's shouldn't have the 260 or 289 decal?

I'm thinking that all the 289 4v engines rather A or K code were meant to be run on premimum fuel so the decal should say so.

I think the 260s (been a long time since I've seen one) and the 2v 289s (c code) were meant to run on regular fuel..

I think the 260s (been a long time since I've seen one) and the 2v 289s (c code) were meant to run on regular fuel..
I assume then the 4V Premium Fuel decal would apply then (give that D was 64's A code engine).

A D code was a low compression 289, it did not require premium fuel.  A codes had different pistons to raise the compression ratio.

I have never seen a 289 4V "regular fuel" decal.  Personally, I have never seen a CI decal on a D code, even cars built in July '64.
