Have the -M taken from a 66 car marked with 2 white marks

Interesting that those were one of the springs apparently installed on 6 cylinders in 66

My MPC indicates that the 610 lb. springs were used on 65 and 66 coupes; both 6 and 8 cylinders. Looks like it could have been an M or C, E, T code. I wonder if they were all marked with white paint?

Fastback's and convertibles used the 650 lb. springs: C4ZA - B, D, F, or N. Why four possible choices for each load rating?

My guess is that each of the springs were used during production (Each letter signified some change in the spring or there would be no reason to change the engineering number) but since the MPC is simply a list of replacement parts (rather than a list of what was used on the line) someone at Ford choose to lump these together and assign a replacement (good/close enough) service replacement for that group.

As far as all being marked with the same color - doubt it but time will tell as we collect more data from what they did on the line

I also found 2 white stripes on my C4ZA-M springs.  They were found about 1-2 inches from the end of the 3rd leaf.  At first I thought I had found a white dot on the 4th leaf but that turned out to be false as there was more undercoating beneath it.  After further careful stripping of the undercoating the true white paint stripes revealed themselves.
