Replating by today's standards
« on: January 30, 2010, 07:57:59 PM »
Is todays replating that much better than what originally came on our mustangs? I had some items replated in zinc and zinc dichromate and the plating looks alot different than any NOS pieces you see, alot deeper and complete silver and gold look. Is this a bad thing or does it matter?

As for things other than chrome, IMHO I would not worry, remember your comparing the plating to stuff that has been exposed to the elements and just years passing so what we see today is likely not what it looked like 40+ years ago. Some of the original pieces are very nice - just depends
