paint stripe ID on front springs for 68 302 coupe?
« on: March 05, 2013, 08:19:49 PM »
Looking for information on the paint stripe color for front coil springs on a 68 302 with AC, PS, GT option, scheduled build date of April 03, 68 at the San Jose plant.  Difficult to tell what is there, maybe brown or pink?  Thanks for any help.

Guessing automatic coupe?

Checked all the buildsheets I have copies and scans of an could not find a match - even from other plants or periods of time in 68 sorry. Have convertibles and fastbacks that are close but with the dozens of different color codes and springs used originally can' tbe sure if any of these would use the same springs as what was installed in your car.

Unfortunately I've never cleaned our Calif Spec  springs to see if they have any of the marks remaining.

The MPC I have was printed in Feb 67  (well the spring pages)  so no luck there

Late MPC shows that the service replacement was marked 1 Tan & 1 Yellow which sort of matches what the buildsheet showed on on J code automatic non-GT AC, P/S  car (marked 1 Yellow & 1 Tan)

Hopefully someone will have something concert to offer

After a close examination and evapor rust soaking, there were traces of orange and purple stripes on the front springs.  Nice bright Easter egg colors when they were wet.  Thanks to all who helped.

Thanks for sharing John - moving this to 67-68 since its specific to a particular car ;)
