Where can you get the most authentic fuel tank?

Obviously NOS, however most of the service ones are not assembly line correct, but second choice would be the American Designers one is nice.

Also, I don't believe some of the Ford service tanks had a drain plug.

That is absolutely correct... and makes me wonder what the rationale is when folks on ebay bid them up to over $500 each.

The Spectra tanks seem to be the closest match to original.  You just have to remove the zinc dichromate from the fastening ring where the sending unit attaches.
