Topic: 1966 January Metuchen door jamb bolt type

Can anyone help me out with what type of window track bolts in the door jambs were used in Metuchen in Jan 1966?  Over the years and with previous owners I ended up with a mismatch on the car and can't determine if they were originally disc type or star washer type.  I believe disc type, as the passenger side is an original door and that is what is predominantly there, but not sure.  As always, thanks very much for all of your knowledge and sharing.

If the passenger side is original and with disc washer bolts, I would use that on the driver side.  Most likely disc SEMS.

Per the 66 Mustang Assembly Manual, AM0011 pg33, I think you want item "J", 378695-S2 5/16-18X1/2hex with an external lock washer. These look like 64-65 fender bolts without the lead point. Look at the attached and see if these are the ones.
Just because you got a certain type of item on one side that is supposed to be "original" and a different one on the other, do not assume that the "original" is correct.
I strongly recomend you get a set of 66 Mustang assembly manuals, plus the 64 Chassis and 64-65 Weld and Sealant.

Thanks Charles and Jim.  I definitely have to pick up a set of assembly manuals.  I vaguely remember discussion on here that there was different fasteners used per plant time period.  Maybe mistaken....

Mine is all original MARCH Metuchen.  Will that be close enough to help you?

Absolutely Bryan.  Does yours use the disc type as I suspect?

Looks like they went to the smooth washer in March (only going by projected build dates of course)

Here's mine.  I was very methodical when disassembling and reassembling stuff to make certain I didn't get bolts mixed up.  I'm 90% sure these are the bolts that came from the factory.

March 15 Scheduled.   Hmmmmmmm!  Just realized my car has an extra hole behind the tag?

Hmmm...I am wondering if the changeover was before March and sometime in January?  My passenger door, which I know is original, has the same disc type as Bryan's.  I wonder if the red fastback built the same week as mine that Charles is restoring has the same.  Charles?

It will be a while before I can answer that question.  A lot of the parts for that car, including fasteners are still bagged/tagged, awaiting restoration.
