1970 B2 Coil Spring Paint Marks-Orientation

May 1970  Dearborn Boss 2

Front Coil spring questions.

Looking through the archives I found that "Paint marks for those springs 2 gold stripes and 1 violet Remember that these were normally marked up side down (so the spring rested straight up) because of that you will see the reverse once installed"

But I did not find answers to the following, so my  additional questions are:
1. When the springs are installed, what is the orientation of  the Gold/Gold/Violet stripes (for reference use drivers side)?  Is  it random?

2. Then I assume that  since the stripes are on the same location on all springs, the passengers side would be facing the opposite way give how the spring site in the perch.

3. What is the approximate stripes width and spacing between stripes? A reference picture would also be good.

Thanks again,
Tony

Front Coil spring questions.

+1 just doubled check examples were I've got original marked springs and matching bulidsheets. Always like double checking older post and info (good to double check if they are old) to make sure we've not found better info over time ;)

But I did not find answers to the following, so my  additional questions are:
1. When the springs are installed, what is the orientation of  the Gold/Gold/Violet stripes (for reference use drivers side)?  Is  it random?

Checked a few dozen 68-70 front springs they are fairly random though my examples all fell (except for one) in the 12:30 to 6 o'clock orientation  (Looking at the spring from the bottom end with the end of the spring at 12 o'clock

2. Then I assume that  since the stripes are on the same location on all springs, the passengers side would be facing the opposite way give how the spring site in the perch.

See above

3. What is the approximate stripes width and spacing between stripes? A reference picture would also be good.

A couple of examples

Runs traveling up hill once installed

Average looking and amount of application

Hope this helps
