Buddy Bar?
« on: August 09, 2012, 12:13:30 PM »
Were 67 Shelby valve covers made by Buddy Bar Casting correct?

Another Buddy Bar Question
« Reply #3 on: September 17, 2012, 02:15:58 PM »
I strongly believe that Shelby used the 65-67? Buddy Bar valve cover as their valve cover modification.  Any idea if another manufacturer also supplied the Shelby LAX plant for valve covers?

I'm not aware of any additional provider of the valve covers

I am now being told that Buddy did not supply Shelby covers for the 1967 model year. It looked the same but had no ID on the inside. The only other valve covers that look like Buddies were Ford over the counter for dress up purposes. Yikes!

Here is a picture of what you had on the car when you purchased it. Have they changed?

They of course should be black wrinkle painted and are die cast instaed of sand cast like the Buddy Bar valve covers.

FYI All of the closed letters Cobra valve covers were die cast even the 66's.

Believe I have seen an Offenhauser version... OECO markings on bottom.  Might have been for 68-70 though.

Did the original die cast covers have any ID on the inside?

Some did but the most important thing if looking for genuine valve covers and most obvious thing is the physical apearance on the outside. In reply #6 the lower picture Jeff posted shows a bolt hole cutout (original cover) into the first fin which gives a squared off appearnce. On the later service and repro valve covers are cut out into the second fin giving a rounded appearance to that area .
