Can anybody tell me what the part # is for j-code heads.  I looked in the part catalogue I have but it shows nothing under 302 for 4V.  Am I looking in the wrong section.

I want to say C80E A for thermactor and C80E F for IMCO (auto) but I dont have book in front of me

Would the complete part number be C8OZ-6049-F.  Does the last digit (letter) denote the combustion chamber.

From my documentation, the part number for a 68 "J" code (aka 4V) head is C8OE-6049-F. The Ford Car Parts book doesn't show carburetor type. Keep in mind that findind a head today, you must rely on the part's marking, eg casting number, for identification, as the service part number (C8OZ-6049-F) is on the box only.

That is the part #. What I gave you are the casting #'s which would be the identifying mark on the head itself

I'm not sure how Ford serviced the part. Its not the carburetor that matters but the emission system as the thermactor heads are obviously drilled for the ports

Thanks for the clarification guys.  The casting number you reference agrees with Bob Mannels book.  I found alot of dealers in vintage parts use the part numbers in lieu of casting numbers.  I'm still learning all the ins and outs to identifying the correct parts.
