1967 Fiberglass Rear Bumper

What is a fiberglass bumper? Was this a Shelby modification? Was this an internal part that fit within the metal bumper?

67s used regular Mustang bumpers, no fiberglass

  A aftermarket part to save weight on a track car. Not something used by Shelby. I think they first surfaced in the early to mid 70's.
