I bought a can to try on amazon for 18.20 because I am already a Prime member and I get free shipping plus I get it quickly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3I2E0W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1   . If I like it I can get it at a much lower price if I buy 4-6 cans as Charles suggested.

Since products are always changing some of us invest a little from time to time to just buy 4-8 different rattle cans, spray them put on a section of metal (I've used a nailing plate often for mine) in one to two inch strips next to each other to compare to original finishes and choose from during a restoration since all of. the black finishes originally were not the same

Also I will test during the process to see which hold up to baking which I've done to make the finish hold up better IMHO over the long haul

I've also noticed that if I preheat or post heat a part -- less than 100 deg. F -- I can get a slightly different gloss level with the same paint brand. Too hot and the paint dries instantly.

I use Eastwood Extreme chassis black satin aerosol.

I either use black encapsulator or Chassis black primer.

I usually paint after 4 hours when the primer is dry.

Yes it takes 24-48 hrs until the paint is solid and doesn't scratch with a finger nail.

Sounds like allot of product on the finished part.  Because if this it might not be the best choice for a restoration based on what your describing though it may fit your needs

Just an observation

Bringing this old thread back up since I finally got to try the 3680102 SprayMax that Charles recommended. This is what I was looking for, a deep black on the surface, a nice satin luster, and dries quickly. To my eye it has the factory appearance that I was looking for.
