Classic Tube Fuel Line - Rear Frame location
« on: October 29, 2012, 01:30:34 PM »
The fuel line that I bought for my Dearborn Mach 1 is for a non-sway bar car (which I think is correct for my application). The line runs along the rocker and then crosses to the inside of the frame around the front spring mount location. It then runs past the shock mount and then clips into the body mount clip in front of the tank. Most of the posts and pictures in the forum show the fuel line running along the outside of the frame, past the rear axle, and then moving toward the inside of the frame.

Do I have a wrong fuel line or is mine correct and since I do not have a sway bar then what I descrobe for location is correct?

Thanks Jeff:

My line does not follow the same path. As mentioned it moves to the inner frame rail close to the front of the leaf spring mount. Did all 69 fuel lines run on the outside of the frame rail as I am confused why my line from Classic is incorrect and what I need to specify when I re-order.

The fuel line on my early 69 Metuchen car follows the path detailed in the photos.  Including the spliced fuel line as seen in photo # 1 going over the E-brake cable and entering the torque box.  Brian

I'll post a photo of what I have tonight. The current line fits very good but apparently is in the wrong location. Classic Tube lists a gas line with or without a sway bar (two different part #s). I am not sure what I have but will see if there is a PN on the box.

Looks like late 67 -68 routing at the rear. Where it bends over to the inside of the rear frame rail there would be a protectant plate/bracket that would go over it. IF it were a 67 or 68 ;)

IMHO incorrect for your vehicle

The fuel line does not go to the inboard side of the frame rail.  The fuel line travels front to rear, inboard of the outer pinch, and turns inboard at the forward leaf spring mount and does not pass that area.  Fuel line make a right angle turn Travels 2" makes another right angle turn and  turns rear ward  to the rear wheel housing area and gas tank. Your photo shows the fuel line going past the leaf spring mount to the inboard side of the frame rail.  Incorrect or at least not the same as my car.   Must be incorrect fuel line kit ?  Hope that is some help.   If needed  I can take and post a pic ?  Brian

Someone is selling or listing those rear fuel lines wrong as we had 2 69 cars in past with 70 lines (with or without rear sway bar) whats up with that only 70 & up have rear sway bars (except 69 b9 but they are unique under axle). The 70 fuel line routes different around rear frame rail sway bar bracket.
