Raven Black PPG 9000 or 9300 ?
« on: February 02, 2013, 01:12:57 PM »
I'm in the process of painting my 1966 coupe Raven black and am doing it in PPG acrylic lacquer. I'm ready to get the paint but see there is a 9000 code and also a 9300 code listed for the PPG paint.
Does anyone know what difference they are ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought I'd give an update on what I've found so far.
I went to my local auto paint store and gave them the Ford code M1724, Ditzler/Ppg 9000/9300 that I got from this website

http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?wtcode=M1724&rows=50&syear=1954&smanuf=Ford&smodel=&sname=Raven%20Black

They couldn't find any reference to it ! Very frustrating as it seems Raven Black was a very common Ford colour as well as having exact GM and Chrysler mixes as well.

The best they could offer me was black based on Ford A paint code which turns out to be about as black as black can be.
I have bought 4 litres of it in acryllic lacquer and will see what it looks like on the car before I get the rest.
