« on: March 14, 2012, 01:07:02 AM »
Good day Guys
We have just bought a 1969 scj mustang with 11 x 2 1/4 inch rear drum brakes, are these drum brakes the correct part for our mustang.
Or are 10 inch x 2 inch drum brakes the correct part.
Cheers Tony.

10X2 inch drum is the correct part.

+1 just had to find one a couple of days ago. Be aware that the surface measures at over 2" though the shoes are just 2"

This is one of the more interesting errors that appears in several editions of the Master Parts Catalog. I've seen both 1970 and 1975 editions that identify the 10" x 2 1/2" C6OZ-2001-A shoe as the replacement part, but (as noted above) observed evidence on multiple cars suggests that they were originally equipped with 10" x 2" shoes.

In the attached image from the 1975 final edition, you can see the 10" x 2 1/2" C6OZ-2001-A shoe listed for both front (second to last column on right) and rear (last column on right) for a 1969 Mustang equipped with a 428. "F.R." stands for "Fade Resistant".

Was searching for this topic to find right drums for my car.
was told it should have 2 1/2 drums on rear with disc brakes in front. CJ's and NPD both list
rear brake shoes for 69 CJ with 428 as 10 x 2 1/2, no listing for the drums.
69 Mach 1, R code, 3.91 rear, disc brakes, 4 speed, Dearborn built 6/69.
