Who are the manufacturers of repro 1966 styled steel wheels?
« on: August 31, 2012, 10:54:08 PM »
There's Scott Drake, and Specialty Wheels that just got bought out by Coker Tire.
I seem to recall one other but can't remember who, and there's probably more.
Problem is my custom order with Specialty got lost in transition, and my parts guy has to reorder again with another big wait.
Just looking for options, and a heads up re quality hierarchy thanks.

Every set of SSW's I've had I've ordered Scott Drake wheels. Very happy with the quality.

I would have gone with Scott Drake except they wouldn't do 15X7 in argent, only charcoal.
There's also Wheel Vintiques and Rally America, but times been ticking by, so the Coker order it is.

Are repro styled steel wheels really selling so well that anyone can't just drive to say someplace like NPD, VA Mustang, CJ, etc and pick up a set??

The sticky point is a 66 wheel in argent like 65, instead of the correct 66 charcoal.
I don't want the charcoal, but that's just my personal preference.
I don't think a repaint of off the shelf wheels at a wheel shop would be any cheaper, or as good.
There's also the warranty aspect too.
It's something that's better coming from a wheel maker as a custom order, and Coker is willing to do it for an upcharge.
