« on: September 04, 2012, 10:13:49 PM »
Hi,
We are putting a 69 Mach 1 together Build date is March 69 and this car has A/C-What we are looking for is the thin insulation that is mounted above the firewall pad. This could be used in non Mach 1 cars with A/C also.Any Ideas ?
Thanks R.R.

That thin fiberglass panel with the very think black plastic sheet bottom (once installed) layer. IF its this it was used in non AC cars also but almost never good enough in used cars after all these years. Might try a water heater insulator blanket (available at placed like Homey Depot)  - strip off the plastic outer layer (normally white or silver around here) strip down layers of fiberglass until you get to the desired thickness then use some spray adhesive to affix a very think large black trash bag ( cut apart to form a single layer) to the one of the sides

Worth an attempt  - Used a similar process last year (different base) to reproduce a rear seat to trunk divider for a coupe. You'll need a couple of helping hands to hold the plastic flat while you lower it onto the s

Thanks Jeff,
That is exactly what we are looking for.Sounds like the simple answer....make a pattern and then a part.I am thinking of the thin fiber panel used for the underside of the roof, we will find some material to make it work.Again Thanks!! :)
