sorry for late response..........been under the weather here. i now have 2 belts that fit. the first one is a motorcraft JC477-A1.......47 7/8".  C9PZ-8620-CFB. there is just a little room left in the adjustment slot after tightening the belt. the second belt i got from NPD. p/n 8620-93. identical in sizes but has FOMOCO markings. the motorcraft belt is no longer available thru the local warehouses. my parts man used the locator service to find me one. he said there was only 3 showing up in the system.

The correct pulley size is 4-7/8".  That's why the correct belt was not working for you.  Glad it all worked out in the end.
