66 build sheet- where to get mine?
« on: August 15, 2012, 04:16:30 PM »
As I understand it build sheets are a good reference for doing things factory correct. I also understand the records for this year were long ago destroyed. How can I get my hands on this?

Metuchen build sheets are the easiest to find. Not sure where your car was built.
Typical places to find them are folded and tapped to the wiring harness behind the instrument cluster. Other places include: under carpeting and headliners, behind door panels, and under seats. Don't be discouraged if you don't find any. They weren't always stashed in the cars.
You can find allot of my research at the following thread:

Would love a copy to add to my collection if you find it. I've got about 30 now. And every one helps a little in the decoding process.

Thanks for the feedback. If I find it I'll be sure to give you a copy. I knows where to look when I take things apart.

The car was built in Dearborn, late April if that helps at all.

Unlike the later buildsheets the earlier versions are somewhat limited on their information and you'll find it a little more difficult to understand due to more coding being used during that period

How can I get my hands on this?

Just allot of hunting. Just don' be disappointed if you don't find one

Good luck

If you haven't already, search/google, ' Mustang decoder '  This site will give you the info contained in your Vin. # and the door data plate.   Brian

Thanks for the tip, Brian.

I did that when researching the car prior to purchase earlier this year. Based on the  plate the car is very choose to original wick is why ended up deciding to go that route rather than resto mod.
