70 Mach rocker panel trim clips
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:11:04 AM »
Does anyone have a picture of the clips that are used to attach the bright aluminum trim to the top of the cast aluminum Mach 1 rocker panels?  Part number?  I don't have them, the repro kit is discontinued.  Nobody has them -  one place said 'call every parts supplier and hope the have one sitting the shelf' - called at least 6 places, nothing. :'(  I found a place called Just Clips but they would like a picture or part number.  Or any other ideas?  Thanks!

I have a few on some of my loose trim pieces. Please send me an email or PM reminder and I'll try to add a picture to this thread later tonight.

Image attached. I haven't had any luck finding a part number for this clip, either.

Looks like C9ZZ-8244-B with 45271-S flange nut.
Showing 4 of for the center upper trim strip.
Also 2 of D0ZZ-6321094-B with acorn nut 377522-S (one at either end of the row of the other four).
I'd like to post an image of the pdf I have but it's being a PITA and not allowing me to save or copy, only print.
I'll print it later, then scan it to save as an image and post it because there are many more different attaching pieces illustrated for all that body cladding.

These clips are held in place with pop rivets, not nuts. If you're looking at the same illustrations I have they show the hardware to mount the panels to the body, not the bright trim to the panels.

Thanks!

It does look similar to the C9ZZ-8244-B in the parts manual I have, but those have a mounting stud & nut instead of being pop riveted on.  I wonder if the reason Ford doesn't show the clip is because the only way you could get the bright trim was to buy the whole piece and therefore the clip wasn't an issue.  Or maybe they just forgot to include it in the diagram.

I can't believe they don't make the kit anymore.  One place said that where AMK got these clips from was sold and the new owner tossed the stamp that made it.

Anyway thanks again for the picture.  And thanks for making the cowl vent blocks too.  Purchased them yesterday.

That may be the case. I couldn't find part numbers for the trim, either. If it wasn't sold separately there'd be no need to sell the clips separately.
