well- i sold my 71 j code mustang and acquired a metuchen built boss 302 dec/69 recent paint - inquiring about placement of trunk lid pin stripe mounted high or low. i know there a few differences between dearborn and metuchen- which way is it? .
Here is an example (same car as used below - 0T02G1386xx (very early Dec 70)
also paint under trunk lid is body color- correct?
Correct the black stops at the edge of the trunk lid
blkd out on dearborn cars? and rest of inner trunk all body color both plants ? thanks david
No - at least at Dearborn - there was little effort (though evidence of some) to mask off the inner trunk area so black overspray is evident on original cars from there
For your NJ car I've seen a fair number of original paint cars were overspray (of the low gloss black) on each trunk hinge
As a side note it appears that at least the taillight panel was painted then masked off - then the body color applied. This practice would match what Ford did on interior colors and (for example) 71-73 lower body silver or black applications)
