Harmonic Balancer - 65 A Code
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:06:29 PM »
How does one tell if a harmonic balancer is original or not?  Will there be a engineering number or Fomoco Stamp on it?

Don't ahve a standard 289 balancer picture or one at home but believe (like other v8's) the engineering number would be on the face of the center section and a date stamped on the outer ring near the timing mark. For other engines its a simple month and year only.

Hope this helps

I did find the engineering numbers, but they are very hard to read as well as the Fomoco logo...The code next timing marks is G6....Is that July 6 1964? or July 1966?

Jeff has it; Balancer dates are Month/Year.  For example the balancer on my San Jose car delivered in San Diego May 29, 1965 is dated D5.  So April 1965.  Can't see the Eng. number or Ford Logo, pulley in the way, but the rubber portion reads C2OE E315.   Brian
