'65 Kick Down Cable or Rod?
« on: February 04, 2010, 05:21:14 PM »
I need help tracking down a transmission kick down cable for a ’65 6 cyl.  I haven’t seen any NOS on ebay and the repo’s seem to be all for a V8 or ‘67-’68.  What’s so special about a ‘65 6 cyl?

They have a repo cable that is 2" shorter than my original.  I really need to find someone with a NOS cable or a repo that is correct. It seems most catalogs have a cable for a V8 C4 for '65.  But all of the 200 C4 cables seem to be for a '66 and newer.  So what's the story with the '65 200-auto kick down cable?  Is it somehow unique or what!?  Can anyone measure their '65 V8 kick down cable for me to see how long it is?

Skyway,
I have my May 66 200CI kickdown cable laying on the table here. I have no idea the difference between 65 & 66. Do you want me to post a picture of the set up? Length of cable is 12 1/8"

Dave-  That would be awesome.  That is the total length of my cable from the end of the threaded adjuster to the end of the bracket on the other end.  The repo's that I have seen are all in the
10 1/2" range.

Well that certainly looks familiar.  Same as a '65.  Imagine that! 8)  Thanks

Gary,
Here's my kick down lever re-plated. I'm sending my cable and cable parts out for plating this week. If you have your originals you should just have then refinished. I just have to figure out what the original finish is that I need on the cable. silver, gold, phosphate?

Unfortunately, my cable is in two pieces.  Maybe I can figure a way to replace the cable and retain the two original ends.
