Original Dash Pad
« on: June 03, 2012, 02:21:20 PM »
Hello Everyone!
I have an original dash pad for my 1965 San Jose Fastback.  I tried to attach some photos below, so I hope they came through?  In the area toward either side of the center of the dash, there a couple of creases that run from the leading edge, back toward the dash speaker.  Are these creases supposed to be there?  Also in the last photo I have a dimple on top of the pad on the passenger side.  How do I get that out?  Lastly, was the pad a medium blue for my light blue interior?
Thank you!

Looks like a service replacement part.  The dimples might come out with some heat, but wouldn't count on it.  Sorry.

Hi Charles!
How can you tell if it is a service replacement part or original?
Thanks!
PS the texture looks much better than the aftermarket ones...

Doesn't look like there are cut-outs at the back edge.

I have the original dash pad in my 64.5 convertible, June 2 Dearborn build. It doesn't have those creases. It is black so I can't tell you about the blue color.

Thanks GrampsMan and welcome to the forum!
I am going to lay my pad out in the sun and see if some of this will work out.

All blue '65 dash pads were med. blue. I assume your car is code 62, Blue/White Deluxe? Except for code 62, all other '65 blue upholstery was also med. blue.
