Autolite 1100 for '66 200 w/Auto Trans

Did the '66 autolite carburetor have 1 dashpot or 2?

"Autolite 1100 carburetor identification is done by examining the base plate and searching for numbers. Look for the Ford part number for initial identification. Prior to '67, 1100 carburetors had one accelerator pump diaphragm. From '67-'69, there were two, with the second diaphragm acting as an anti-stall dashpot instead of an accelerator pump on automatic transmission models."

I see conflicting information on this...anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Allen

All 1965-1966 Automatic 1100 1v's had two dashpots... One Anti-stall, One Accelerator Pump.

I vote two.

Only the Manual 1100 1v's had one dashpot that I've ever seen.

Ok, here's the dilemma.  The '66 I purchased had a 6 cylinder engine with engine block C6DB-6015-A (but only 3 freeze plugs) and it had the carburetor pictured below on the engine.  From what I can gather this engine and carburetor are not correct for a '66 Mustang.  So I find on craigslist a 1bbl carburetor out of a '66 Mustang automatic 6 cylinder (my setup).  So I buy it sight unseen and low and behold, it's the exact same carburetor pictured?  Coincidence? Or is this all possibly original?

Allen,

Attached is an illustration out of the 1966 shop manual of the 1100 automatic carburetor with anti-stall dashpot (the mechanism on the leftside of the carburetor in the picture). My 1100 3-speed carb does not have this dashpot.

Thanks Pete!  So your carburetor looks like the one pictured below.  This carburetor came on the 200 ci engine I bought to go in my car (however, it is a '65 block).  This engine was hooked to a 3 speed as well, so thus the one dashpot (other side of carburetor).  Do you know what the carburetor is that is pictured in my last post?  I'm trying to figure out why i keep getting them from "66 Mustangs"...

Well, I have one just like yours, I just need one with the other dashpot...(This is the other side of it).  If anyone knows what that carburetor is that I first posted a picture of, let me know.  And, I have the carburetor pictured for a manual transmission (65-66) if anyone needs it (of course, for a nominal fee...8)

Just for future reference, a 6 cylinder block with three freeze plugs is either a 144 or 170 c.i. engine.
200 and 250 c.i. engines had 5 freeze plugs.

200 engines use a three bolt water pump. 250's use a four bolt water pump.

Thanks Pete.  Yes, I have since discovered that  :o.  BTW, I noticed your carburetor has a "push rod" on top from the dashpot that the one I have does not.  Any ideas?

I'm not sure, but you'll notice that the illustration from the shop manual I posted earlier also has a push rod.

I got my carburetor from Pony Carburetors:

Pete, again thanks.  I see on the website you suggested (~3/4 down the page) that the carburetors I'm getting are Holley 1940 DOPF-K.  It says they were NEVER factory installed.  Hope this helps others in some way...

"Do you know what the carburetor is that is pictured in my last post?  I'm trying to figure out why i keep getting them from "66 Mustangs" -

Yes, I know the carb in the 1st picture.   It is a Ford Parts Replacement Motorcraft 1 Barrel.  It is an post '71 Ford carb.  The carb was actually a Holley made 1 barrel carb, not a Ford made carb though it was used in early 70's to early 80's Ford vehicles.
