Correct Transmission cooling line clamps 65
« on: May 01, 2012, 10:08:49 PM »
I have gotten conflicting information as to which type of clamps are correct for attaching the rubber lines that mate the metal lines to the barbed brass radiator connectors. Is it the tower style screw clamps or the perma-style crimp connectors? 65 SJ coupe 10/64 build date. The ones that I took off are the perma style crimps.

Thanks,
Greg

My June 65 Dearborn convertible had the tower clamps.  Unfortunately, they were too rusty to re-use.  NPD listed the tower clamps in their catalog last year, but when I tried to order them, I was told their supplier didn't pan out.  If anyone has a source for the small tower clamps, hopefully they will share that information.

My original January '65 Dearborn car has the crimp style clamps-like what was used on the fuel lines.  I'll get photos...

I'm leaning towards the crimp style as more correct. Now there are two different crimp styles, one with the "ear" on one side like the gas and one with the ear on both sides, which NPD has listed for the radiator. I will post pics of all three as soon as the double ear ones arrive. I don't know if I still have the original ones I cut off of the hoses to compare I will look.

Now I have a new question. Does anyone have a pic of the 6 Cyl. cooling hose bracket that attaches to the engine block which holds the lines?

For a 65? If not you might want to start another thread ;)
