66 Conv Pump
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:00:40 AM »
Got my plated parts back.  Now I'm going to send the pump out for motor reassembly because I'm not sure I could get it assembled and running correctly.

Looks nice, good job.  Maybe you could buy a really cheap motor and take it apart to know how yours should go back together?  Might be cheaper than sending it off and then you can sell the cheap one to reclaim cost.

Thanks for the complement Charles.  I sent it to a nice fellow in South Carolina.  He said $25 to assemble and bench test it.  That's fair.  I sent it to him yesterday.  I could have done it myself but I don't understand how the bi-metal thermal protection points are suppose to be calibrated?

He says in the cold condition the points are closed by the bi-metallic flat spring, but when a stall or near stall at the motor happens, the two metals heat up and open the points.  The preload has to be set right or it won't function correctly.  He stalls the motor on the bench and makes sure the spring is set right.
