69/70 Shaker mid-plate quandry
« on: December 26, 2009, 10:40:47 PM »
I have two mid plates, one with the 2V/4V holes (on right below) and one with a single hole that I believe came from a 69 428CJ shaker assembly. Aside from the obvious hole difference there appears to be a few other differences that I'm trying to reconcile. The 69 mid-plate (i'll call it that for the moment) has a flapper plate that is 'flat' and the 70(??) 2V/4V has a flapper with a subtle 'crease' running its length (center of plate) with a hole for a rubber bumper. The second most noteable difference is the 'bubble' at the rear of the main assembly - the vacuum motor is riveted to this raised 'bubble'. This raised area is taller on the 69 than the 70 such that the flapper sits at a steeper angle on the 69. I thought the 69/70 midplates were identical? Is the midplate on the right a reproduction?
