Resonator or No Resonator

Friend has a 66 C code convertible from the Dearborn plant with single exhaust. Car was assembled Feb 16 or so and he wants to replace the exhaust system and is pretty sure whats on there now is all replacement stuff from earlier repairs.  We would like to know if is C code is supposed to have resonators or not?
