Topic: stainless vent window frame question

I sent out my vent window frames for chrome and polish on the upright divider.

My question is what should I do with the oem swivel vent window frame. Machine polish it up to the standards of the other window stainless trim or just hand clean/polish up the frame for a duller stainless look??

Opinions may vary, but I Just cleaned mine up to keep the stock semi dull finish. I figure after polishing by hand the vent window chrome, that's enough!

I was wondering what the judging standards are or what they expected to see on this part before I start reassembly.

You can have the pot metal pivot re-chromed without removing it from the frame.  My plater that does this usually will buff the stainless frame at the same time.  I tell him to do a final buff that puts back simulated machine buff lines.

Keep in mind that the frames were probably somewhat shiny when new.  40+ years of exposure will dull them down a little.

As far as judging standards, I would suggest that there could be a deduction if they are buffed to a mirror finish with no lines.
