Who carries this darn nut??

Subject: Who carries this darn nut?? '65/'66

Looking for part number: # 359791-S2 .

These are the two nuts which attach to the chassis that the bottom part of the Front Bumperettes bolt onto. I know that i could use a "C" clip nut here, but I'm pretty sure that it's not correct.  All the hardware kits come with "C" clip nuts, but I'm almost positive that it's an actual square nut in a retainer that "slides" onto the chassis.

I'll take a pic of the area tonight..

Thanks,

Tony K.

Thought AMK has this.  I've restored originals, they usually are the square style U-clips.

Found 'em!

Yeah, These nuts are hard to find, I think that there are only two used on the whole car.  I ordered a Front Bumper guard kit from two separate vendors.  One was a Scott Drake Kit, and it had the two "rare" square "U" nuts...!!  I also ordered an AMK kit, and to my surprise, They were NOT in the AMK kit.. The AMK kit just has the generic longer "U" nuts and not the Shortie Square correct "U" nuts..

Well, I've got what I need now with one exception.. I'd like to know what the supposed "correct" hardware bolts and clips for the Front Bumper Guards (Bumperettes)... I have it all, Just need to know what is most correct...

Otherwise, It's off to the Factory assembly manual though I know production sometimes differed from that manual.

Thanks,

Tony K.

Tony,
I need the same hardware for a 66 GT. Do I have to buy the AMK kit plus the Scott Drake kit? According to the assembly manuals there are four of those nuts required.
Thanks for any help that can be provided!.

This fits the post I started in Parts - "Why Doesn't Somebody - " and the answer I got from Pal/Tinnerman is that they would be happy to make a batch, minimum order of 500,000 pieces. The nut clip is also used at the top of the front bumper guard. I've gotten a few from wrecked cars and that's about it. AMK ran out a few years back.
