Early 1966 production deluxe seat belts
« on: December 13, 2011, 11:10:46 PM »
I am starting to gather parts for my 1966 convertible interior I am beginning to restore.c It was built in Dearborn with a scheduled build date of 11/17/65. the car came with a standard interior and I am wanting to convert it to a 76B pony interior which had the deluxe seat belts. I am looking at seat belts for it and I have found that the 65 style and 66 style were different. I have pictures of each. Considering the car was built in 65 which of the seat belts would be correct. Thanks so much for any help!

The 2nd image is what you are looking for if you are converting to 66 delux interior.

From my undestanding you could have standard seatbelts on a pony interior car as the seatbelts where a stand alone option.
(happy to be corrected if im wrong)

And you can definately have delux seatbelts on a standard interior car

Just food for thought!!!

Delux belts included the seat belt warning light.

The first picture of the seat belts are the 64 to early 65 style belts where it was metal on metal.  Later 65 models had a plastic covering end.  I'm sure someone has a picture of those.  Also +1 on what jwc66k said, if you put deluxe seat belts in the car, you have to put in the seat belt warning light...

In addition to what others have mentioned, it should also be noted that retractors were not an option on convertibles.

Thanks everyone for the info, it was just what I needed to know!

Phill, just wondering if you might know a man named Gordon Cox, my 1966 concours Mustang Sprint is on it's way to him, he bought it from me on e-bay
