BB smog canister hose
« on: November 26, 2011, 10:13:11 PM »
I was told that I need to take care of some vacuum leaks. I guess I forgot to connect the smog canister bottom stem to a vacuum source. From the chassis assembly book there seems to be a hose from the canister to the forward brass vacuum block on the back of the intake. Currently this block has the the PCV hose connected off the side and a rubber plug on the top stem. It then has the secondary block screwed into the back of it (with the booster line and tilt column hoses). Is it supposed to be a plain black hose without a color stripe for the canister? With ribs or without?

Tim, would the hose have been molded with hooked (curved) end or straight at the ends (thus it would have sweeping curves at the connection points). I found a hose with one molded hooked end and a straight end which may have been from this application?

Here's a system off a Mustang that has never been apart.  It has a black ribbed vacuum hose with no molded ends.

Interesting details Scott.  The original parts that were in the trunk of my '69 also had the tower style hose clamp in the diverter/bracket position, though it looks like yours is on the wrong side of the diverter??  Most restored cars use a band clamp in this position.

The hose is 24.75-in long and the OD is 3/8-inch.
