Re-Born 10-10-2011
« on: October 10, 2011, 10:46:52 PM »
Even though there are some minor gremlins to take care of and some stickers to put on in the right places 8F03S218XXX is considered finished enough to show you some pics. I mounted the original headlights, wheels and tires (enough to do one side and a spare) and snapped a couple of pics. Because of this website 16 months ago the car went back onto a rotisserie so that I could redo the undercarriage. It didn't stop there though. The more I read this site the more I knew it was either I do it right or I don't do it at all. The only thing that hasn't been refinished in the last 16 months exterior body paint (that had been professionally sprayed in 1990 or 91). I reupholstered the seats back about the time the car was painted and they had been patiently waiting for the car. Everything else has been redone in the past 16 months.  Hopefully, correctly now.

There are so many people to thank that it is difficult to list them all. Most notable are Jeff S, Tim L, Charles T, Bob G, Marty R and Pete M from this forum. Your knowledge is incredible. Sorry for being a pest but without your help this car would have been just another rebuilt mustang called restored. Others high on my list are Jim C at Shelby Parts and Restoration for without his help with the motor I would have thrown in the towel last May. He also helped with some plating the convertible top, loaning me a rotisserie and hard to find parts. Jim S for installing the sheetmetal, initial polishing after 20 years of oxidation, some component repainting and touching up. Mike S who I have known for 25+ years and his dedication to SAAC. My younger son Alex who got me thinking about that disassembled car in the other garage three years ago and helped wrenching almost the whole time. My older son Matt who spent hours polishing and cleaning components so they looked almost new or at least a lot better than he started with. My wife for being patient.

Thanks for the nice words. I'm sure everyones noticed the green battery and thought what's up with that.  Not to worry as I'm leaving some items for the family to look into for the upcoming holiday season. I have a long list in all sorts of price ranges. Best part was the 3 mile drive from the shop to the house.

Not to worry Jeff as some parts are coming off tomorrow to get some ZD plating. Found some intresting findings on a few turn signal light housings I had. Jack screw bolt, misl underdash screws getting phosphated tomorrow as well. Just as Tim said "they're never done". I'm not going to say that to the wife though.

I hope to get her on a lift soon so I will take some pics from below. As I tell people most of the detail work is seen from below. I'd like to thank Richard S (Oz380) for help and direction with the convertible top frame restoration. It looked like a daunting task and without his information reassembly could have been a nightmare.

Looking forward to taking a longer drive before the cold sets in.
